Caddis & Benson back in training for Town on first day of pre-season

 

Swindon's players were back for the first day of pre-season training today - with Paul Caddis and Paul Benson both taking part.

 

The high profile pair were both controversially loaned elsewhere by former manager Paolo Di Canio last season, with Caddis impressing at Birmingham and Benson at Portsmouth & Cheltenham.

But with both players still under contract at Swindon and transfer targets of other clubs, the pair will continue to train as squad members until their futures are decided.

 

Joining them was Darren Ward, who has been linked to Brentford and Luke Rooney, who is fancied by Gillingham.

 

New faces included young triallist Jack Barthram from Spurs, a number of hopefuls brought in from Banbury United by chairman Jed McCrory (pic below) plus others whose names the club would not disclose.

 

Keeper Wes Foderingham, who is currently in discussion over a new contract, was put through his paces by goalkeeping coach Fraser Digby.

 

Noticably absent was last season's captain Alan McCormack, who completed his much-rumoured switch to Brentford over the weekend.

 

Town lick off the League One season proper on 03 August away to Peterborough.
